I'm starting a short and i need to make a few blood shots. There is one shot wher i need to make three gunshot wounds.
I don't know much about special effects.
i can produce the blood but can't figure out a way to make it explode like someone has just been hit by a bullet.
I'm also looking for some crew. I'm in northampton england so if theres anyone interested! thank you

Here is a cheap and SAFE way of doing bullet hits, assuming the shot is fairly close to the actor (medium to close up).
1)Mix some blood (karo syrup and red food coloring)
2) Dip some wadded up cotton balls into the misture
3) Place saturated cotton balls in the end of a piece of 1/2 inch metal or plastic tubing that's about 2 feet long and push all the way to the back.
4) Depending on the distance, use an air compressor or your own lungs to launch the cotton balls at your subject. The launch needs to be high powered and quick.
The cotton balls will appear out of nowhere and "splat" quite effectively and stick in place on clothing or skin. I didn't invent this. Famed make up guru used this technique on one of the Godfather movies, I believe, where a guy had to get shot in the eye or head close up. I've used it many times and it always looks terrific. No chunks blowing out, but quick and easy to set up. If you have multiple hits, use multiple tubes!
Hope this helps!

Take a look at this one:
http://www.super8filmmaking.com/s8effects.htm
...even if Moviestuff has been very exhaustive.
However, i think you should put much care on the actors falling after the gunfire, on their faces when they are shooted... in one word, on the effect on the actors of the gunfire shooting: i think you can simulate a gunfire without special blood effects but you can never simulate it with a non credible falling by the actor, or with an unproper look of the face when he's shooted...
